INTRODUCTION
Based in Hokitika on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island we offer all-inclusive Guided Waterfowl Hunting Safaris. The West Coast offers a huge area of prime waterfowl habitat with a myriad of Creeks, Lakes, Riverbeds, Ponds & Swamps. Hunting is over decoys for Mallard, Paradise Shelduck, Black Duck and also Canada Goose. Excellent jump shooting on creeks for Mallard & Black Duck. Limit bags range from Canada Goose no limit, to a 15-bird Mallard limit per shooter per day. With over 20 years local hunting experience, limits are obtainable on a regular basis. Your guide is a proficient Duck & Goose caller and has to his credit a 2nd placing at the World Duck Calling Championships.

RIVER BED HUNTING

After opening weekend mobs of wily Mallards seek refuge and safety in the open riverbeds around our area and mobs of 150 or more are not uncommon. These mobs normally situate themselves at top of falls with no cover for sometimes 300-400 meters and no chance of an ambush. These birds were always a real challenge to hunt, but a few years back on a trip to the USA we managed to find some camouflage that has been to the detriment of many a Mallard. We have this camouflage clothing available to our clients during their stay. This camo combined with large decoy spreads (we use up to 150) and good calling can result in a very memorable and rewarding day.

FIELD HUNTING

We have a large population of Paradise Shelduck (Mountain Duck) and these birds mob up in large numbers in fields throughout the season. They are hunted from portable hides over decoys. This is exciting hunting and with a limit of 20 birds per hunter per day and achieved on a regular basis this can make for a great days hunting. Good Mallard hunting can also be had with the same methods.

JUMP SHOOTING
With plenty of creeks and ponds within easy driving distance of your accommodation, some excellent jump shooting is to be had. Stalking ponds and creeks and flushing Mallards is great sport, and makes for an exciting day.

LAKES & LAGOONS

There are several excellent lakes and lagoons locally with good populations of waterfowl. This hunting is from permanent hides & combined with large decoy spreads and good calling, great results can be had. Species include Mallard, Shovler and Black Duck, Swan & Canada Goose.

HELICOPTER DUCK HUNT

Over the past couple of season we have been offering Helicopter fly in Duck hunting this is to a huge wetland that is only accessible by helicopter so the hunting pressure is very low this is reflected in the amount of birds that reside in this wetland the hunting is awesome to say the least with limit bags common for all hunters we normally fly in on daylight then into some boats we keep in the area and along a small stream to the permanent hides set up  we hunt all day and fly out a the duration of the days hunting this really is a must if you are looking at a hunting trip. The flight is only a short distance which helps keep the cost down.

CATA rAFT dUCK hUNTING

Hunting from my 16 ft cataraft is a comfortable way to hunt a varity of different waters, bays and streams acting as a moble Hide it is stable and safe to hunt with 2 hunters this really opens the options for some great hunting on our bigger lakes and waterways.
