Welcome
to Shallow Rush Home Stay. We offer peace and privacy in 10 acres of native
West Coast bush. Our totally secluded property includes a short native
bush walk and large garden giving you the opportunity to view & photograph
a variety of Native Birds. Being the only guests means you can enjoy your
stay in a totally relaxed and private environment.
The
excellent panoramic views overlooking the Hokitika River valley and Southern
Alps including Mt Cook & Tasman, can be enjoyed from the outdoor pool
deck, or from the comfort of our spacious lounge. We provide a small library
and full office facilities including Internet access. Guided Trout fishing,
a host of other activities including glacier flights, can also be arranged.
Our property is sited on an abandon gold mine and derives its name from the pick and shovel gold miners of 1800s who with visions of a great rush, found that the gold vein was only short and shallow. Within a short walk from the house, some evidence can still be found of the work of these tenacious miners.
With Gavin being a 3rd generation West Coaster and professional trout fishing guide and Rebecca having a chefing background our meals have a great NZ flavour and homegrown presentation and include local fare such as NZ beef, lamb, venison and seafood.
Comfort and privacy are paramount to us. We offer this tranquility to our guest, with our warm cosy guest room, with private bathroom facilities.
We have a 3-year-old daughter Gwen. Our accommodation is in a separate area of the house so you can enjoy our facilities in privacy, or chat with us over a meal and a New Zealand wine or Beer. The choice is totally yours.
